Stainless Steel Angle
Next to our aluminium angle, stainless steel angle is one of our most popular sections available to order online at Alloy Sales. We are different to any other metal store. You can buy stainless steel angle online with us on a trade account and benefit from the best UK metal prices and a premium service from start to finish.
All of our stainless steel angle is in stock, available on the shelf. Ready to ship in both equal and unequal angle sections. Our steel stock comes in a variety of sizes, thicknesses and lengths to always ensure we have the required size to meet your project needs.
If you do not see the length you require, we have a high precision saw for metal cutting and fully trained fabricators. Enjoy our free cut to size service.
Stainless steel angle has an abundance of uses. The two flat surfaces join at a 90° angle to form an L shape. The vertical and horizontal extension of the stainless steel angle gives it strength in two directions. This structural shape serves well in both construction and building industries.
How does stainless steel compare to steel metal?
Stainless steel alloys contain additional elements such as molybdenum, nickel, titanium, aluminium, copper, nitrogen, phosphorous or selenium. The main advantage stainless steel alloys have is their resilience. Stainless steel can withstand much more time and abuse before showing signs of wear. Without these alloying elements, the iron in the steel would be prone to cause oxidisation, rust, and staining. Martensitic steel grades are the hardest and strongest, used for engineering applications, however, our austenitic steel grades also have high tensile strength.
Mild steel is a general purpose steel. It has mechanical properties that make it particularly suited for structural applications, however it does not contain large amounts of either nickel or chromium, and therefore lacks corrosion resistance. Our S275 mild steel has a lower tensile strength than our stainless steel.
Which stainless steel is best?
We stock two industry recognised steel grades: 304l and 316l stainless steel. 304L is one of the most common grades. It is the dominant grade of steel metal used in applications like sinks and saucepans. Whereas grade 316 has excellent corrosion resistance when exposed to a range of corrosive environments. Therefore, it is usually referred to as the “marine grade” and is ideal for coastal architectural panelling and coastal balustrades.
The benefits of 304L and the 316L stainless steel angle are direct offshoots of the chemical nature of the material. 304L is easy to machine, and very good for welding. 316 stainless steel has good machinability and fusion welding performance for 316 stainless steel is excellent both with and without fillers.

Can stainless steel be anodised?
The short answer is no. However, at Aluminium Warehouse we can supply anodised aluminium angles. Read on to find out the benefits..
The peculiarity to anodised aluminium angle is the treating process. Manufacturers submerge the material in anodising solution, passing an electric current through the solution.
The process above results in the creation of an aluminium oxide layer above and below the material surface. It’s a situation that increases the surface hardness and corrosion resistance of the resultant anodised aluminium angle.
Depending on the end functionality, a finishing step may be necessary to produce polished anodised aluminium angles. Anodised angles do not peel or chip over time. Hence, they’re great for decorative purposes or use in high-traffic areas.
